My
studio in Boston's South End (near Boston Medical Center):
No "Walk-In" services are available.
Address:
1946 Washington St, Boston, MA 02118 (Across the street from Ramsay park (Jim Rice Field), one block over from Boston Medical Center).
Driving Directions: If you use a GPS, be sure you have the right Washington St. There is a second one in Roxbury a few miles away! The studio is in the "South End" of Boston. Take exit #18 (Mass Ave Connector) off the southeast expressway. That will become Melnea Cass Blvd when you cross Mass Ave. Follow that about 3/4 mile, you will cross Albany St, then Harrison Ave. The next street is Washington St. Turn right, and you'll see a "Sriberg Furniture" sign on the right, on the next block. The studio is in the furniture store building, on the 3rd floor. When you arrive, call my cell and I'll come down to the side door on Thorndike St. and let you in.
Parking: Two hour meter parking (bring quarters, $1/hr) on Washington St, Don't park in the section designated "Commercial parking" unless you have commercial plates on your vehicle. Two hour parking on Thorndike St. or Newcomb St. with no meters (but you need to move your car every 2 hours). Free parking on Washington St, on the opposite side from the studio. Pay attention to the "Street sweeping day" signs. Make sure you don't park in those areas on the designated days (2nd and 4th Thur of each month) or you'll get towed. There is a parking garage on Northampton St. that charges $9(3-5 hrs), $16(5-7hrs). (from Melnea Cass Blvd, take Harrison Ave and turn right at the CVS).
MBTA: The closest Orange line T stop is Ruggles sta. about a 5 block walk from the studio. Orange line goes to North Station. The Silver line Melnea Cass T stop is only 100 yards from the studio. Silver line goes to South Station.
Features:
WiFi is available. Ask me for the encryption key if needed.
Basement: Several different brick, wood, and concrete wall textures, pipes, a giant furnace, and some creepy looking dungeon-like spaces.
1st floor: An antique store with all kinds of interesting artifacts, a garage area with an old white Corvair convertible with blue interior. Some of these artifacts can be used for shoots given advanced notice.
3rd floor: Large studio with natural window light on two sides(NorthWest and SouthWest). The NorthWest windows have a fantastic view of the Prudential building!
